Agriculture in the Chach Plains near Hazro, Attock, Pakistan – March 2008

The Chach plains are east of the Indus and contain the most fertile in the old Rawalpindi division. The area may have been swamp before which slowly was reclaimed as the Indus changed course. Chach is situated just south of the the Gandghar Hills of Haripur district.
Chach is a major agricultural area where wheat, corn, cabbage, melons, oranges are just some of the crops grown here.
Chach is a multi-ethnic area and the two major languages spoken here as mother tongues are Hindko and Pashtu.
